Good morning!Transitions! As the season comes alive, I find myself wanting to hit the highway to breathe in all the beautiful remnants of Fall. I enjoy driving towards the mountains to observe the transition of the leaves on the trees before they fall to the ground exposing the nakedness of the tree that was their home for a few months. The transition of seasons reminds me how similar it is to our writing. I noticed that my stories tone change as I enter each season. I remember once challenging myself to set a story in Summer while writing in Winter. As I sat staring out my balcony – filled with snow – I could not persuade my brain that I believed it was actually Summer in the story I was attempting to create. My brain kept rejecting my false truth. All I could do was laugh at how each attempt of “at the beach” kept routing back to “snow-filled pond”. I feel a challenge growing inside me – – I think I will try again this Winter. Would love to hear any suggestions from my fellow writers on your success with this type of seasonal brain persuasion.
